I recently brought this pendant necklace at a local Gem Show and wanted to keep its aqua blue color in the cord. But I found out that a single cord was too light and 2 cords from the same color was too… I don’t know… it was just not right. So, as a black cord would have been too dark and a white one too light, I opted for an ivory one.
I ended up adding some dark blue glass spacer beads to add a bit of darkness to the chain, as in the pendant itself.
I also made a bracelet that’ll be perfect with this necklace.
This necklace is made of two 2mm satin cords, an aqua-blue one and an ivory one, and a natural aqua/black/grey/white stone pendant I bought from the local Port Moody Rock and Gem Club..
It features a Double Coin knot tying the pendant to the chain, as well as dark blue glass spacer beads and Cross knots along the chain.
Each knot has its own meaning in the Chinese culture.
The shape of the Double Coin knot, or Friendship knot, represents two overlapping antique coins and, hence, symbolizes great prosperity and long life.
And the Cross knot comes from the shape of the ideogram for number ten.
So, as a mix of these Chinese knots, I hope this necklace will bring to its wearer great prosperity all along a very long life 😉
